Safety Resources

Every company has primary responsibility for the safety of its people. But no company can – or should have to – develop all the best safety practices in isolation.

At Enform, safety practices and tools are developed, discussed and refined by industry, for industry. Enform then shares common safety practices with companies in all sectors, to improve the safety performance of the entire industry.

Enform provides a range of industry-recognized products and services to help companies achieve their safety goals, including:

  • Safety Alerts
Enform periodically distributes safety alerts to raise awareness of incidents (near hits/misses, or other losses) which have occurred and to share recommendations from incident investigations. You may submit your own Safety Alerts by filling out the Safety Alert Template and mailing it to safety@enform.ca.  It will undergo our SA QA process and be posted for public consumption.
  • Safety Information
These timely updates bring readers up to date on safety-related activities and programs spearheaded by Enform or its partners.
  • Safety Statistics
Enform gathers, analyzes, reports and uses industry safety performance data, such as provincial key performance indicators.
  • Guidelines
Well-developed systems, guidelines and practices provide clear direction that helps all levels of business achieve success. Enform’s collection of guidelines and best practices have all been developed by industry, for industry.
  • Guides to Safe Work
A Guide to Safe Work (GTSW) may be in booklet or flip guide form, and focuses on valuable and relevant safety topics
  • Industry Recommended Practices (IRPs)
Enform plays a vital role as the steward of Industry Recommended Practices (IRPs). An IRP is a set of best practices and guidelines prepared by knowledgeable and experienced industry and government personnel. The practices set out in IRPs form the basis for minimum standards for the industry.

Issues Proposal Process

To ensure everything we do is by industry, for industry, Enform uses an issues proposal process, which enables the six industry associations  and Enform staff to identify and prioritize safety issues. One of the associations sponsors action to be taken by completing the issues proposal form. The form is submitted to the Enform Advisory Committee for review and discussion to ensure that the issue applies to multiple sectors within the industry. When all six industry associations approve the issue proposal, Enform gets to work on the safety issue, with the guidance and support of industry representatives as needed.

Document Development Process

Enform follows a standardized approach to the development of industry publications. The Document Development Process outlines the most common process that Enform uses to develop IRPs, guidelines and other resources
