Types of CORs
Three Year COR
This is the “standard” certification that involves a three year cycle. Year one involves a Certification Audit by an External Auditor. Years two and three require Maintenance Audits.
Three Year SECOR
This is the “standard” certification for companies with 10 or fewer employees. It uses the same three year cycle as the COR but uses a different audit protocol and requirements.
MECOR Process
This process is designed for growing SECOR certified companies and new companies to the COR program with 10-19 employees. Over the course of a three year cycle, employers transition from a SECOR to a COR based certification.
One Year COR
A One Year COR may be issued when an employer is new to the COR program and their safety management system is less than a year old. Both provincial governing bodies and Enform must jointly approve a One Year COR. One Year CORs are applied in other unique circumstances.
Six Month COR
Granted when an existing COR is about to expire and, for a number of reasons, there are no work sites available to audit. The audit is confined to reviewing documentation and interviewing employees (an "Administrative Audit").
Partnership Audit Standard Equivalency (PASE)
If a large company has a developed safety program with well established health and safety management systems, the employer may apply to Enform for participation in the Partnerships Audit Standard Equivalency (PASE) program. There are certain criteria which the employer must meet in order to participate in the program.
Types of Audits
Baseline Audit
This audit determines the extent and limitations of an employer's current safety program. This audit provides information concerning areas of the safety program that require upgrading.
Certification Audit for COR ("External Audit")
This is an audit of an employer’s safety program conducted by an Enform certified auditor who is not an employee of the company. These audits must be conducted on three-year intervals to renew an existing COR.
Maintenance Audit for COR (“Internal Audit”)
This is an audit carried out in the two “maintenance years” of a three year COR cycle. It may be conducted by an Enform certified internal auditor who is an employee of the company.
Certification Audit for SECOR (“Self Audit”)
The SECOR program allows a small employer to perform a self audit for SECOR certification once they have completed the required two day training course.
Administrative Audit
In the event that a company is required to perform an audit for certification purposes but does not have active worksites available to audit, this type of audit may be used as part of a Six Month COR. Documentation and interviews are still conducted but observations are limited to the available administrative site.
