Get a COR

To acquire a COR, an employer must take the following steps:

  1. Register with Enform
  2. If you are in Alberta, you also need to register your company in the WCB PIR program.
  3. Develop and implement a health and safety management system that meets provincial standards.
  4. Select an Enform Certified H&S Auditor.
  5. Have an audit completed and achieve a passing mark (80% overall with no less than 50% in any one element).
  6. Have your auditor submit the audit to Enform for quality assurance review.
  7. A COR will be issued for audits that meet the required standards.

If an employer has a comprehensive health and safety management system in place, the time required to complete an audit and have it reviewed by Enform could be very short.

However, if the employer needs to develop a health and safety management system, the time required to complete the COR process will be significantly longer. Employers can make use of Enform’s training and in-house expertise and/or contract health and safety professionals to create a health and safety management system.

Once you have a COR, you need to maintain it annually.
